Shaping New Space at Czech Space Week 2024

Czech Space Week 2024 was a remarkable showcase of innovation and collaboration within the space industry. What began as a local initiative has evolved into an international event, highlighting Czechia’s growing prominence in the global space sector. This year’s gathering brought together industry leaders, innovators, and enthusiasts to celebrate cutting-edge developments and support meaningful connections.

For Spacemanic, the event was a whirlwind of activity, with our team present throughout the two-day Prague exhibition, actively representing our role in the flourishing New Space ecosystem. From the very start, we were immersed in the energy of the event, engaging with both local and international players. It was inspiring to witness the Czech space community’s progress, supported by institutions working together to create a robust platform for experts and visionaries alike.

Over the course of these two days, Spacemanic had the privilege of sharing insights and stories across various panels and discussions. Our System Engineer, Ota Michálek, who also serves as Secretary of the Czech Rocket Society, spoke about student-led rocketry projects during the Student Initiatives in Space Exploration panel. Meanwhile, Daniela Jovic, our CCO, presented Spacemanic’s incubation journey and milestones during the Opportunities by ESA BIC, ESA Technology Broker, and ESA Ambassador panel. On the final day, our CEO, Jakub Kapuš, joined veteran astronaut Andrew Feustel at the New Space panel, where he shared insights into this dynamic field, representing Spacemanic as a proud member of the Newspace Advisory Board.

The Prague exhibition concluded with the ESA BIC Launchpad event, a gala evening dedicated to celebrating innovation in the space industry. This event spotlighted startups incubated in the ESA BIC program, showcasing their achievements and future plans. Spacemanic was thrilled to be highlighted several times throughout the evening, from recognition of our international competition successes to a special acknowledgment of Geraldine Naja, ESA’s Director of Commercialisation, who made time to visit our offices during her stay in Czechia.

Czech Space Week 2024 once again demonstrated the incredible momentum of the Czech space sector and its growing role on the international stage. For Spacemanic, it was an opportunity to reflect on our journey, celebrate our successes, and build connections for the future. We left inspired, energized, and excited to continue driving innovation in this ever-expanding industry. Stay tuned as we share more about our ongoing projects and the highlights of this stellar event!
